RE: Smartphone?? Blackberry??

You want a smart phone (one that you can install programs to and run them) go with the HTC phones. Verizon sells the XV6800. All the other HTC phones are the same, just different buttons. It does run on windows. I have mine flashed the way I want it and with what I want. I do no pay for the tether. I installed garmin and tomtom with 10 email accounts. There is a learning curve with this phone, as most others, but it does it all. RD

RE: HW heater clicks but won't light

Try bending the rod just a tiny bit closer, so the spark has less gap to jump. Careful not to crack the base. Clean the rod with steel wool until it is shiny on the end. I'll give the steel wool a try. It was pretty shiny after the brush. Funny thing, I lit it to warm the water for the shower, after a few hours I heard it come on again, it went for it twice the third time it lit. I got a dirty spot somewhere.

RE: Something to ponder... from the other side

wow this is a great post. I'm for the people wanting it all and wanting it now can go back to burger king university. Sometimes things don't go your way and thats the fing way of life-deal with it, pull your head out..:D. I always try to do my best to make sure its my problem before I go to the office, which happens once in a blue moon. I feel for the campground admins, they can have a tough time dealing with new people that don't know jack about "their new toys". I think its funny when they cry when they don't work, but they fail to read the basic manual.. I'd like to manage a campground for a good while. I'd prolly just say "no-sir" most all day long -lol

RE: HW heater clicks but won't light

Sounds as if the gas is not getting through. If you can hear the clicking my bet is that the igniter is working fine. Is there something blocking the gas jet? Dumb question but have you verified that there is gas in the gas bottles, does the oven light for example? As I stated above I can light it by an alternative method. I know there's enough gas there. (using one of those long campfire lighters) The spark isn't making it to the sparking rod. I can see it sparking right where the sparking rod mounts to the heater bracket. I have cleaned it, maybe I missed a few spots? The sparking rod is in great shape, not cracked on the porcelain or anything.

RE: Michelin tire "experts"

Have you ever looked on Ebay for tires? Our UPS man just delivered 4 brand new LTX 255 R70 18. They cost me $300.00 to buy $98.00 to ship and another $48.00 for mounting and balancing. and the date code for them e-bay tires? Thats the only reason i'd put spanking new tires to e-bay. RD

HW heater clicks but won't light

It clicks away in the timed intervals and it being dark I can see the spark not making it to the sparking rod. Last night I removed the sparking rod and removed some rusty spots with a wire brush from the rod base plate and the mounting plate for the heater itself. It fired right up when I turned it on. Now, second night same problem. Did I miss a spot of corrosion somewhere in the circuit of the mounting plates of the heater and the sparking rod? I can get it to light with an alternative method but I know I need to get it right. RD

RE: Need help with Dometic refrigerator

boots: if your handy enough you can replace the coils yourself. I did ours and so have a slew of others, and its a whole lot cheaper than a new whole fridge. I saved us some 1k in beer/bbq money doing it myself instead of just getting the coils replaced at the dealer. That is the easier option in the pocketbook. get the coils here David Force at cooling unit warehouse is really good at what he does there. I ran into some simple stumbles and he walked me through them, email or phone. It took me 6 hours instead of the 4, I had to pull the fridge a second time not lining the lower coils right, big woop, I saved alot of money. I did it myself and I know it works. And for the next years, any reason the coils wont cool, David Force will take it back and give me another.

RE: Picking up new Class C ....

I would buy a good sewer hose. Something like a Rhino is great. This is one idem that you don't want to go cheap on. Basically don't buy "crap" or you will have a "crap" problem. :M Speaking from experience here. Up here in the Smokies where we are our longer sewer hose decided to have a crack about a foot away from the valve connection. Went to the local walmart and decided on the Rhino hose. You don't really know what makes it better until you hook it up, position it with its really done slinky design, drop the water and I'm sold. I don't care if I have to upgrade my hose holder, I'm stickin with it.

RE: Need help with Dometic refrigerator

I did not notice a smell (outside), the inside of the camper had a funny oder. The electric heating element was very hot. I am going to check to see if it is on the recall list. Some report the smell outside or inside or both, sometimes with a small hissing (amonioa escaping). The biggest one will be the yellow staining right at the bottom of the element/burner area.

RE: Need help with Dometic refrigerator

go back to your heating element and see if you get your breath taken out by amonioa gas.. you might be able to see some yellow powder/substance around the lower portion of the heating element. if so, time to replace the coil unit. if none of the above, start from the basics.

RE: How do you fill your MH tires?

I tried the pancake and the 12 volts, too slow for me. I picked this up at sears on special and air up it tanks in about 25 seconds and really quiet. I moved my hydralic slide motor and pump to the top of the shelf in this basemant box and found the pump, hoses, breakerbar and torque wrench all fit with room to spare. Sweet! .. and the pump cord reaches to the outside gfi just great. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v335/john14/rv%20pictures/IMG_1010.jpg

RE: Picking up new Class C ....

I would have to agree on the above listed items. I myself have a "no fuss flush" device installed, and it works really well, as usual each to their own. A very usefull website with some checklists and simple starter stuff is this firedude. Take it on a few 10 mile from trips with a tow vehicle or someone following you and you will filter out all the stuff you soon figure out you cant live without. Good luck! RD
